Beyond counting words: A paradigm shift for the study of language acquisition

The 30-million-word gap, the quantified difference in amount of speech that children growing up low-resourced homes hear compared to their peers from high-resourced homes, is a phrase has entered collective consciousness. In discussion quantity, complex and nuanced environments which learn language were distilled into singular metric—number words. this article, we propose examining children’s by focusing on what caregivers communicate how they it.
